Will MG Motors Make An Entry In Pakistan’s Auto Sector?

MG motors is a british automotive company that is now owned by Shanghai-based state-owned automotive SAIC Motor. It has been revealed by a well known industrialist Javed Afridi that he will launch MG motors local production soon in Pakistan. It is one of the first automotive company to introduce local manufactured electric vehicles. Before Audi Pakistan had launched Audi Etron but it used to be imported from Germany. While MG motors agreed to have its local production rather than importing it from UK. Its owner Javed Afridi said that it will be one of the finest car having all those features which exists in the other luxurious cars. Javed Afridi recently posted the video of MG electric vehicles including MG ZS EV and MG E-Motion that are expected to make their way to the local industry. It is certainly an exciting element for auto enthusiasts in the country. It is said to be a tough competitor of KIA SPORTAGE, which have captured the market in very short time. On the other hand most people think that the monopoly of Honda and Toyota might be a threat to the newly launched company. It seems to be a great competition among the automotive companies in the near future. Moreover the oil producing countries are not happy with the EV technology, their economy is suspected to get a huge jerk. Therefor they have banned the import of EV cars. But Pakistan Government is trying to implement EV friendly policy. Environmental advisor to PM stated that there will be 2% discount on registration of electric vehicles. Apart of this very less duty is imposed on the import of electric vehicles in order to make the environment ecofriendly. Therefor it’s the advantage for the local manufacturers and buyers because more people will tend to buy EV cars. They are more efficient and less conserver cars than hybrid or fuel conserver vehicles. But lets see what will be the price tag of newly launching MG cars.
